On Friday, 17 December 2021, at 8 p.m. at the MMC KIBLA, we kindly invite you to attend the musical performance TDNO - Time Demands New Orientations, a new project by Ana Čop and Jaka Arh. The project is their response to the current rise of destructive patterns in society and the general careless attitude towards culture. Through the extended use of vocals, electronics, free improvisation and spoken word, the authors directly encourage critical thinking, draw attention to the importance of cultural identity and, above all, acceptance of difference.

Ana Čop began her musical career as a classical pianist. After graduating from high school she studied musicology at the University of Ljubljana and at the same time enrolled at the Conservatory of Music and Ballet in Ljubljana, where she began with her first formal jazz education with professor Nada Žgur. After successfully completing two years, she enrolled at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, where in 2020 she completed her undergraduate studies in jazz singing with renowned professor Dena DeRose. She currently lives in Switzerland, where she is pursuing a master’s degree at the prestigious Jazzcampus Basel. She collaborates with many Slovenian and foreign musicians. Last year she released her debut album ACTS! with German pianist Thilo Seevers. Ana is the winner of the MM Jazz Festival (2018) and the mentor of the new basic jazz category at the international Jazzinty workshop (2019). 

Jaka Arh is a Slovenian musician who, after completing his undergraduate studies on jazz saxophone in Graz, Austria, moved to Basel, Switzerland, last September to continue his postgraduate studies. He has studied with world-renowned musicians such as Julian Argüelles, Mark Turner, Domenic Landolf, Gregor Hilbe, Volker Böhm, etc. In his short career he has had the opportunity to perform and record with various highly-established names in jazz in Slovenia and the surrounding area (Matija Dedić, Ratko Divjak, Heinrich von Kalnein, Uli Rennert, etc.). He is a member of the Croatian-Slovenian electro jazz band Trokut, whose debut album Shapeless earned them a nomination for the prestigious Croatian music award Porin in the category »Best Electronic Music Album«.  

Admission is free. Viewing is possible in accordance with the recommendations of the NIPH and the RVT requirement
