We kindly cordially invite you to the opening of the solo exhibition of the internationally renowned ilustrator, painter and designer Alja Horvat, entitled The Beginning, which will take place on Friday, 27 January at 6 p.m. in the artKIT exhibition space.

Alja Horvat works mainly with the graphic tablet, but also loves traditional oil painting. She has designed for companies such as Barcaffe, Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, FILA, Jeruzalem Ormož, etc. The exhibition explores colourful patterns that intertwine, connect and complement each other. She is inspired by everything that surrounds her, especially nature and museums. The artist, who is best known for her illustrations and depictions of women, focuses this time on depicting flowers and floral patterns open to interpretation. Alya's patterns are dominated by a carefree nature that takes us beyond the problems of today's world. She takes us to a dream world of flowers of the seventies and sixties, of which she is a fan, so we can also feel this kind of nostalgia and respect at the same time in her paintings and forms.
Alja Horvat is a 26-year-old illustrator and graphic designer from Maribor. She is the winner of the Elle Style Awards 2019 in the »Young Talent« category and the winner of Forbes' »30 under 30« list in the Arts & Culture category. She studied at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering in Ljubljana, and turned design from a hobby into a professional career in 2018.
