Petra Varl presents a series of her latest works in Kibela. The series that was first planned in the form of graphic art, eventually acquired the form of objects – signs that carry the fundamental message of the narrative. In the creative oeuvre of Petra Varl, image takes up the key position, thus presenting an important starting point for all further explorations taken up by the artist. The ensuing stories originate in her personal, intimate universe. The narrative is kept simple – in a recognisable language, which makes it easy to understand, even internalise and thus make it our own. Lines connect into visual images, which further transform into signs addressing us so convincingly that images suddenly begin to reflect our own story.

The Wild at Heart team is composed of three painters: Jurij Kalan, Aleksij Kobal, Silvester Plotajs Sicoe, and the sculptor Mirko Bratuša.
As a team they adhere to no concepts of thought, common art practices or views of artistic activity. They are only joined by free expression and research into the field of art, therefore the exhibition setting is not planned as a concept, rather being a spontaneous common search of dialogue. They thus try to evade the pre-prepared artistic “packed lunch”.
More InformationArtist: Irmak Canevi
Exhibition title: Refraction
The peripheral world just outside the installation space at ‘Apartment Project’ is subjected to abstraction; familiar images and details from the street refract as they ooze through the windows of the project space only to be reconstructed anew. After taking a ‘closer’ look around Canevi brings together a series of details he had recorded through a playful equation, creating a colourful new world. Finally the artist sees this refraction as a metaphor for the meddlesome outside world’s inevitable intrusion on the inside.
More InformationA biennial conception presupposes a curator from each of the participating countries (Croatia, Italy, Hungary and Slovenia) who will propose a national selection that will further be subjugated to the selection of a joint
committee singling out four artists from every country. Each biennial employs a new curatorial team and in such a manner brings in a new theme of universality and actuality that will transcend the events’ geographical
confinements. The focus of BQ_4 is on new media art - art that uses digital technologies as a medium.
