Andreja Kuluncic´s work „image of the ‘other’ by andreja kuluncic“ representing by Jerica Ziherl and Djanino Bozic
The new project by Andreja Kuluncic is the result of a year-long research on the topic of social distance, with a focus on the formats of occurrence and construction of the image of the ‘others’, i.e. marginal social groups, in the local mass media.
The initial part of this complex project involved several stages: research, sociological survey, discussions and collaborations with experts in social and humanistic sciences. Now, at its final stage, the project continues with a set of direct actions that further explore ways in which it is possible to raise the sense of responsibility of the media as well as reshape the perception of both those who produce and those who read, watch or listen the media-generated content.
Sezgin Boynik held a lecture at the X-OP European Studies programme with the topic of art collectives, also giving insight to the background of the curatorial collective WHW of the 11th International Istanbul Biennial.

New production of Electropera for X-op serries of artistic events, interactive installation Ditopia Zaslon – digital photo animation – portret of Kibla activities, places, personel Marko Košnik started his polymedia career in 1980s as a writer of concepts and a musician, producing creative environments, open labs and media platforms, dealing with synchronization of authors from different backgrounds. Crossing from acoustic studies of subterranean Karst to performances and installations with sonorostatics (electro-acoustic plates) Košnik entered the field of performances with his own producting of Egon March Institute and started building interactive environments in 1993.

Exhibition Nevidljivi (Invisible) by the Serbian painter Biljana Đurđević. In her works she portrays the human figure in the contemporary consumerist society and aggressive reality in a particularly individual and exceptional way. She criticises openly Serbian social phenomena and reflects the cruel reality. She investigates how violence and anger are spread in contemporary culture in completely extreme ways. The mythology of today she often tells in the language of socialist propaganda. Yet the artist often uses allusions or quotes from various periods of art history, mostly from renaissance and baroque. Christian iconography and historical painting are other her sources to find the theme matter of her works.

The event was part of X-OP project, that was hosting Tengal, a residential artist from Philippines, who stayed in KIBLA for X-OP residency in October 2009.
Tengal is a Manila-based interdisciplinary media artist, composer-musician, curator/producer, and filmmaker working with various mediums. He producers and organizes, as well as participates in various media art related projects in the Philippines and abroad. His work puts the focus on direct experience, risk-taking and personal interaction between artists and audience, and emphasizes the situational potential of live performance, the interplay of various media – sound and image, in particular – and candid exchange between sub-cultural and academic initiatives. He founded SABAW Media Art Kitchen – a not-for-profit, artist-run umbrella network and platform for all kinds of information and communication carried via modern electronic media with emphasis on the region of South East Asia.
